Amazon targets robotics team in latest round of job cuts

Amazon has laid off employees within its robotics division, with at least 100 job roles affected.

According to Reuters, the division focuses on developing robots and other automated transport systems, mainly for use in warehouses.

“We regularly review our organisation ‌to make sure teams are best set up to innovate and deliver for our customers,” Amazon revealed in a statement, however the technology giant didn’t specify how many jobs were being impacted.

These layoffs come as Amazon recently made a raft of job cuts, as part of its plan to eliminate 30,000 corporate jobs.

In January, the company confirmed a new wave of global job cuts after a draft internal message from a senior executive was mistakenly shared with employees.

The tech giant announced another round of layoffs as part of its plan to reduce its corporate workforce by 30,000. At the time, 14,000 roles across Amazon Web Services (AWS), retail, Prime Video and human resources were impacted.

However, Amazon is not the only tech company making job cuts, with Salesforce, Telstra, Meta and Ericsson all streamlining processes, resulting in jobs being cut.
