The leading Nordic data centre provider has joined the industry body representing the Norwegian data centre ecosystem in a bid to reinforce its commitment to sustainable growth, regional collaboration and sovereign digital infrastructure in the Nordics.

It follows atNorth’s recent expansion into Norway, which was marked by its flagship NOR01 data centre at Haugaland Business Park.

atNorth’s expansion into Norway establishes a presence within every Nordic country, with the company hoping to reinforce its position as a trusted provider of sustainable infrastructure across the region.

“Establishing a presence in Norway has been a strategic priority for atNorth, and joining the Norwegian Data Center Industry is a natural next step as we deepen our engagement in the region,” said Tatu Tuominen, director of public affairs and communications at atNorth. “As demand for AI-ready and sustainable infrastructure continues to accelerate, it is essential that industry players work collaboratively to ensure responsible growth.

“This membership allows us to actively contribute to shaping a sustainable, future-ready digital ecosystem in Norway and across the Nordics.”

Joining Norsk Datasenterindustri will enable atNorth to bolster collaboration between industry stakeholders, policymakers and regional partners, it said, to support the continued growth of the digital infrastructure ecosystem across Norway.

Its membership will involve supporting key initiatives aimed at positioning data centres as essential infrastructure that can contribute economic, social and environmental sustainability – in addition to promoting forward-looking regulation, contributing to industry standards and best practices and driving innovation in energy efficiency and power resilience.

The move to join the ecosystem comes shortly after atNorth announced it was joining Nordic Compass, an alliance designed to strengthen innovation and resilience across the region. It is also part of the Climate Neutral Data Centre Pact (CNDCP), the UN Global Compact and the European Data Center Association (EUDCA).

atNorth’s goal is ultimately to turbocharge innovation and collaboration as it supports Nordic digital infrastructure growth. The Nordic region has set a strong precedent across the European data centre market, with its commitment to sustainability and community engagement.
