In a bid to support stronger and more reliable digital connectivity across the region, the move will help expand network capacity, strengthen reliability, and future-proof the infrastructure, as demand grows for high-speed internet, business services and new technologies.
Commenting on the collaboration, Hani Askar, chief global business officer of Batelco, said: “Our ongoing partnership with e& Carrier & Wholesale Services is important in strengthening regional digital infrastructure.
“Upgrading the Fiber Optic Gulf network strengthens the foundation required to support evolving connectivity needs, accelerate the rollout of advanced digital services, and enable a more resilient and competitive telecommunications ecosystem that supports long-term economic growth.”
Also earlier this week, at Capacity Middle East 2026, Batelco agreed new strategic partnerships with Tata Communications and Tencent to enhance Manama IX, Bahrain’s first Internet Exchange Point (IXP).
