Sajid Ahmad Khan has been appointed regional managing director, south and east Africa as Bayobab seeks to strengthen regional leadership.

MTN Digital Infrastructure, commercially trading as Bayobab, announced the appointment of Sajid Ahmad Khan effective 5 January 2026. In his new role as regional managing director for south and east Africa, Khan will oversee Bayobab’s operations across the region, alongside leading the Bayobab Kenya business.

Looking to translate Bayobab’s pan-African connectivity vision into more regional impact, Khan will also be responsible for driving commercial performance – accelerating network monetisation and strengthening customer value delivery through strategic leadership and cross-border collaboration.

“Sajid is widely recognised for driving future‑ready teams, promoting operational excellence and navigating complex market environments – his leadership and experience will be instrumental in advancing our regional growth ambitions and enhancing the value we deliver to our customers and partners,” said Mazen Mroué, CEO of MTN Digital Infrastructure.

Khan will now work to reinforce Bayobab’s position as a leading digital infrastructure provider across Africa. A significant part of this will be leveraging next-generation connectivity and digital platforms to enable growth, innovation and transformation across the continent.

With more than 26 years of global leadership experience spanning Africa, Asia and the Middle East, Bayobab said Khan has a record of transforming traditional operating models into agile, digitally enabled, high-performing businesses.

Most recently, he served as group managing director of digital services at SEACOM, where he led a broad range of roles across SEACOM Group. He has also previously held leadership roles at Liquid Intelligent Technologies, Expresso Telecom, Etisalat, du and the Aditya Birla Group.
