2026 is already shaping up to be a big year for Boldyn Networks, the leading neutral host provider responsible for bringing connectivity to the London Underground.
According to Andrew McGrath, CEO of Europe and Asia at Boldyn Networks, the company will continue to ride “the wave of growth” as global demand for network infrastructure surges.
“There’s no shortage of requirements for network investment to support the densification and all the increased use cases that we have,” McGrath told Capacity. “Our priorities are to work with those segments and customers so that we can contribute to building the infrastructure to support their growth and ours.”
A year of transition and tenacity
Committed to global growth, Boldyn Networks is also undergoing a significant leadership change as Christos Karmis is due to take the helm as Group CEO at the end of March 2026.
Karmis was viewed as the best person to oversee the company’s transformation, as he himself shared the focus would be on its “people-focused culture, spirit of innovation and relentless customer focus that has established Boldyn as the industry leader”.
Speaking on the direction of the business, McGrath shared with us: “I’ve had the pleasure of working on the same leadership team as Christos for the last five years, and so his fingerprints are all over our strategy. It’s him who, as much as anyone, has led the growth of the organisation.”
He added: “I don’t think there will be radical changes. But of course, we do evolve as the market evolves, and so we will be constantly reallocating our resources to where the most important opportunities are.”
Recipes for growth
The company is making significant progress amid a rapidly transforming market. Particularly across Europe and Asia – areas which McGrath focuses on – there is a wide range of demand needed for growth, much like in the US.
“Customers expect connectivity and capacity,” he said. “Or it can be use cases for factories as they make their industries more efficient, or MNOs requiring densification in urban areas.
“Those common requirements that are driving demand are the same across the globe and compounded by AI demand – accessing from wherever users are using it, through to the data centres generating compute power.”
He added: “We work out how we can contribute to the ecosystem and support the infrastructure for that growth.”
Scaling efficiencies and meeting network demands
Private network deployments continue to be a significant focus for Boldyn Networks as it continues to scale. The company is seen as a leader in this area, with more than 100 deployments across EuropeDeutsche Telekom taps Starlink to expand mobile services across Europe.
McGrath shared that the company is seeing demand across several sectors, including manufacturing, railways and airports.
“Any industry that is looking to achieve greater efficiency and security of its operations will be interested in private networks,” he said. “There are always new opportunities. We’ve got some pioneering opportunities in smart city infrastructure investment – be that in the UK in Sunderland, or our award-winning project in Rome.
“We see a lot of municipalities investing in smart city infrastructure, because then they can digitalise their services across that infrastructure, look after their taxpayers and provide more efficient services.”
