Colt DCS appoints new CIO to fuel global data centre growth

Colt Data Centre Services (Colt DCS) has appointed David Burton as its new chief information officer.

With more than 25 years of global technology experience, Burton will be responsible for leading Colt DCS’ global technology and security teams. As a result, he will play a strong role in shaping the company’s vision and delivering secure, scalable and future-ready digital platforms that enable growth.

His appointment is a significant milestone for the data centre organisation, Colt DCS said, with his strategic insight and technical expertise aiming to strengthen the company’s function and the executive leadership team.

His proven track record in leading complex, global technology organisations, combined with his deep expertise in digital transformation and cybersecurity, makes him the ideal leader to drive our next phase of innovation,” said Quy Nguyen, acting CEO and chief sales officer. “I’m confident he will play a key role in strengthening our platform and delivering long-term value for our customers.”

Burton has joined Colt DCS from Global Switch Data Centres, where he was working as group director of information. Here, he led the organisation’s digital strategy, strengthened its cybersecurity posture and delivered technology capabilities to support continued business growth.

Throughout his career, he has driven large-scale digital transformation programmes across a wide range of business sectors. This includes cloud computing, virtualisation, global IT service management, R&D and consumer goods – experience vital for Colt DCS as they continue to scale and evolve, the company said.

Burton’s appointment has come at a critical time for Colt DCS as it commits to further global growth. The company recently appointed a new head of Japan to support further AI and cloud expansion and drive alignment across its global functions.

Colt DCS is also hoping to advance its sustainability efforts, having reported a 27% reduction in its greenhouse gas emissions across Scopes 1, 2, and 3, compared to the 2019 base year of its sustainability reporting. The company said the figures were a testament to its commitment to decarbonise the design, development and operation of its data centres.
