DE-CIX is expanding into Stockholm with a new AI-ready Internet and Cloud Exchange, extending the operator's Nordic footprint beyond its existing locations in Denmark, Norway, and Finland.

The exchange launches in September 2026, with orders open immediately.

Stockholm becomes DE-CIX’s sixth Nordic site since the company began operations in the region in 2023, joining Esbjerg and Copenhagen in Denmark, Kristiansand and Oslo in Norway, and Helsinki in Finland.

The new exchange will be AI-ready from launch, incorporating DE-CIX’s AI-IX capabilities to support data-intensive workloads, cloud-based AI applications, and low-latency real-time use cases. It will offer local access to both internet peering and cloud interconnection, deployed across multiple data centre locations in the Stockholm metropolitan area and operated by DE-CIX International GmbH.

“With more than 30 data centres, Stockholm is a huge hub for the Nordics, handling 55% of total Nordic internet traffic,” said Ivo Ivanov, CEO of DE-CIX.

“It is the largest colocation market in the region, supported by 125+ active network providers. By expanding to Stockholm with an AI-ready Internet and Cloud Exchange, we are bringing our interconnection services closer to customers in Sweden and the wider Nordic region, while seamlessly integrating them into our global ecosystem.”

The Stockholm exchange will integrate into DE-CIX’s existing Nordic and global interconnection ecosystem, providing connectivity to digital hubs across Europe and beyond. The company positions the move as part of a broader strategy to extend its footprint with AI-capable exchanges that combine local proximity with global reach.

DE-CIX operates a carrier- and data centre-neutral interconnection ecosystem spanning five continents and more than 60 locations globally, connecting over 4,000 networks worldwide.
