As a result, Digital Realty now owns Telepoint’s two data centres in Sofia.
Currently, Sofia hosts over 340 network points of presence and nearly 200 unique networks. The city also serves as a central point in the Eastern Mediterranean connectivity corridor, assisting Digital Realty’s facilities in Athens, Heraklion and Zagreb.
“Sofia is a thriving hub for connectivity in Southeast Europe,” said Paula Cogan, managing director EMEA, Digital Realty.
“Bringing Bulgaria into our global portfolio allows us to offer customers even more ways to connect, collaborate, and scale their businesses. This expansion strengthens and complements our interconnection platform and helps customers reach end users faster, while tapping into a market that’s growing rapidly and attracting innovation.”
Earlier this month, Digital Realty unveiled plans to enter the Malaysian market through an agreement to acquire CSF Advisers, the owner of the TelcoHub 1 data centre in Cyberjaya.
