The agreement includes cable landing facilities in Fortaleza, Brazil and the infrastructure owned by EllaLink and Telxius will enable European traffic to reach all the major cities in Brazil and across Latin America.

Currently under construction, the EllaLink cable is a 4-fibre part system, delivering the first direct link between Europe and Latin America. Back in August, Capacity caught up with Vincent Gatineau, chief marketing & sales officer, and Diego Matas, company’s plans for next few months and their perspective of the subsea cable industry as a whole.

In particular, Telxius’ Fortaleza cable landing station interconnects subsea cables stretching towards three continents: America (Central and North), Africa and Europe (with EllaLink). Telxius’ BRUSA, with its 138 Tbps, is currently the highest capacity and lowest latency subsea cable connecting the Americas, potentially extending EllaLink’s reach and ability to serve their customers even further.”
Telxius recently opened the doors to its Derio Communications Hub in EMEA. Located in the North of Spain, the new hub is situated a few kilometres away from the landing station for the MAREA cable and has been developed in response to the growing demand from communication services.
