Ericsson and specialized by stc have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to accelerate the development of advanced mission-critical communication capabilities that support Saudi Arabia’s national public-safety ecosystem.
Announced during the World Defense Show in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, the deal plans to enable real-time situational awareness for first responders. It also includes co-development and testing of advanced public-safety use cases.
The collaboration will combine specialized by stc’s nationwide digital infrastructure with Ericsson’s global expertise in secure, high-availability networks. Both companies said the MoU will also enhance operational efficiency for first responders including police, ambulance, civil-protection and emergency-management teams. The communication tools will include mission-critical push-to-talk and push-to-video, AI-driven incident analytics and location services.
“Our collaboration with Ericsson marks an important step in advancing our mission to support national public safety capabilities,” said Khaled Aldharrab, CEO of specialized by stc. “Together we will co-develop solutions that enhance coordination, strengthen emergency response and deliver robust communications for the Kingdom’s front liners.”
Integrating Internet of Things (IoT) sensors and smart-vehicle systems into unified communication frameworks will work to support faster emergency response, improved coordination and stronger community resilience, the companies said. Ericsson and specialized by stc will also conduct joint validation programmes and field trials to simulate high-demand emergency scenarios to ensure secure and uninterrupted communication performance.
Both companies hope to support Saudi Arabia’s broader Vision 2030 digital transformation goals by enhancing national readiness for emergency situations.
“We are pleased to collaborate with stc specialized to enhance next-generation mission-critical communications in Saudi Arabia,” said Håkan Cervell, president of Ericsson Saudi Arabia.
“By leveraging Ericsson’s secure, resilient network expertise with specialized by stc’s digital infrastructure, we are supporting the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 ambitions by strengthening public safety, fortifying national resilience and enabling digital transformation that empowers first responders to act quickly and confidently when every second counts.”
Ericsson and stc have a long-standing relationship that deliver resilient, future-ready solutions that support critical services and national priorities. The agreement planned to harness Ericsson’s latest portfolio of offerings, including 5G hardware and software, cloud-native solutions, advanced managed services and infrastructure and network support.
