Colt Data Centre Services (Colt DCS) and ESR, the Asia-Pacific focused real asset owner and manager and have announced a joint venture to develop a 130-megawatt (MW) hyperscale data centre campus in Minoh City, Osaka.

The joint venture will deliver the first 65 MW phase of the project, designed and constructed by ESR–Colt DCS, with operations managed by Colt DCS in APAC’s second-largest data centre market.

Site preparation is already underway, with construction of the initial building scheduled to start in 2027. The first facility is expected to be operational by late 2029. The campus spans approximately 140,000 square metres, acquired and rezoned by the joint venture in collaboration with Minoh City authorities.

The facility aims for LEED Gold certification and the plan includes upgrades to community facilities.

Osaka’s data centre market continues to grow, driven by hyperscale cloud providers and AI companies expanding across the Asia-Pacific region. ESR’s OS1 facility, part of the Cosmosquare Data Centre campus, completed commissioning in 2025, while Colt DCS opened its Osaka Keihanna data centre in 2023.
