In his new position, Luigi will develop one of the Mediterranean’s most critical hubs for submarine cables for the technology giant.
He joins from Digital Realty, where he spent over five years in the role of operations manager.
Prior to this, he spent six years at Sparkle, working his way up from director of network services provisioning to VP of subsea cables.
In a statement posted on LinkedIn, Sangiorgio said: “Today, I begin a new adventure with Google as EMEA operations lead for the Global Submarine Network.
“This role will also bring me back to Sicily, where my professional journey began 30 years ago – developing what is now one of the Mediterranean’s most critical hubs for submarine cables.
“This transition blends personal roots with professional passion, and I’m beyond excited to contribute to Google’s mission with everything I’ve learned so far. It’s a small industry, and I look forward to reconnecting with familiar faces and forging new partnerships in the subsea cable arena.”
