HCLTech plans to set up its first AI data centre at the upcoming Odisha Sovereign AI Park in Bhubaneswar, India, in partnership with Sarvam, an Indian AI company, and the Government of Odisha.
The investment is expected to accelerate India’s sovereign AI and data ecosystem, HCLTech said. It will leverage HCLTech’s full-stack AI capabilities and Sarvam’s foundation models to offer sector-specific AI applications to private and public sector enterprises, in addition to addressing the government’s sovereignty needs.
HCLTech announced the data centre shortly after it confirmed it would seek to enter the full-stack AI market.

As India remains one of the fastest-growing technology markets in the world, HCLTech is eager to capitalise on it as a growth engine for its business. India’s data centre ecosystem in particular is booming, driven by strong demand from technology giants, data localisation and critical infrastructure needs to support GPU deployments for AI digital transformation efforts.
The Odisha Sovereign AI Park, which is currently under development, is expected to connect high-performance compute with Indian models and real-world applications.
In addition to scaling its AI efforts, HCLTech said it also hopes to contribute to the delivery of multi-lingual AI based services, in collaboration with Prime Minister Modi’s calls for AI to benefit everyone.

HCLTech has also signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Government of Odisha to set up a global technology centre in Bhubaneswar to innovate and deliver AI-led digital solutions to global enterprises.
The technology centre will complement the proposed AI data centre and contribute to direct and indirect employment. HCLTech said it would be engaging with local institutions and the government to boost the local talent ecosystem to focus on next-generation skills.
