As one of the world’s largest mobile virtual network operators (MVNO), Lyca Mobile continues to consolidate its growth within the Portuguese mobile market.
In the mobile segment, the report said Lyca Mobile reached a 2.2% market share, representing an increase of 0.4 percentage points compared to the third quarter of 2024. It also highlights the operator’s strong performance in mobile broadband internet traffic, with a 1% share increase year on year.
During this period, Lyca Mobile also achieved a 2.1% share of active mobile accesses with effective usage, reflecting growing preference from consumers for the company’s flexible and competitively priced services.
Additionally, the operator received two significant national awards in Portugal – the Produto do Ano 2025 for its recently launched physical eSIM and the Boa Escolha Best Choice 2025 in the category ‘Non-Binding Mobile Tariffs’.
“These results position Lyca Mobile as one of the operators with the strongest market share growth in the last quarter, which motivates us even further to continue improving and innovating,” said António Arnaut, country manager Portugal at Lyca Mobile.
He added: “This positive performance demonstrates our capacity for adaptation and innovation to meet the needs of Portuguese consumers, reinforcing our commitment to providing affordable, high-quality communication solutions.”
Lyca Mobile has enjoyed record growth in the prepaid market, alongside a significant increase in mobile data usage among customers with a substantial rise in average data consumption per user between January and June 2025.
In Portugal, Lyca Mobile said its success is on account of its competitive strategy focused on transparent and personalised plans designed for an increasingly digital and demanding audience. This steady growth has maintained the trust of consumers in Portugal.
The MVNO has also been focused on strengthening its presence through increasingly digital solutions, centred on simplicity, flexibility and adapting to the needs of a demanding and connected audience.
Lyca Mobile also achieved successful growth in the second quarter of 2025, as it continued to invest in a stronger presence across online channels, bringing digital content closer to customers and responding to their needs in a transparent and personalised way.
As it continues to provide prepaid SIM cards, Lyca Mobile has more than 16 million satisfied customers worldwide.
