Update: Meta has now scrapped its AI image tool. Read the latest HERE.
Meta is rolling out Muse Image, its first image-generation model from Meta Superintelligence Labs, as it seeks to expand generative AI tools (Gen AI) across its apps.
Muse Image is integrated into Meta’s AI chatbot and can interpret complex prompts, use photos as inputs and let users edit generated images through sketches or annotations. It will be used to power new editing features on Meta’s Instagram app, in addition to being integrated into the suite of tools used by marketers to generate advertising for the platform.
The company added that it plans to expand Muse to more countries and integrate it into its Facebook and Messenger platforms.
The launch comes shortly after the release of Muse Spark, Meta’s first AI model in the Muse LLM series, which was built specifically to fuel its AI progress. Muse Spark also started conversations over how Meta would be planning to incorporate its social media content into its AI models moving forward.
At the time, Meta said its goal is to achieve what it calls “personal intelligence” – an assistant able to help anyone, anywhere with “the things that matter most to them”.
On Muse Image, Meta said the model operates as an AI agent, invoking search and coding tools to improve accuracy, self-refine its own image generation and has the ability to improve through scaling test-time compute. It also integrates with Muse Spark, Meta added, enabling the two models to share tools and jointly plan for agentic media generation.
Meta also said a new video model, Muse Video, would be available soon.
It comes as interest in AI agents continues to ramp up. These AI models often power autonomous tasks such as generating content and handling customer support inquiries for businesses. Already, 98% of enterprises have reported increasing investment in AI communications in 2026.
