Bullhound Capital led the round, which drew participation from the British Business Bank, COFIDES, Alpha Edison, Fulcrum Asset Management, Pentland Ventures, Magdalen College Oxford and a range of other new and returning investors. Existing backers including Oxford Science Enterprises, SBI, Chevron Technology Ventures and The University of Tokyo Edge Capital Partners also participated. J.P. Morgan acted as exclusive placement agent.
Founded in the UK, OQC develops superconducting quantum computers built for deployment in data-centre environments. The company has established a global platform with systems operating in the UK, US, Japan and Spain, and counts enterprise and government customers in financial services, defence and security among its user base.
Chief executive Gerald Mullally described the close as “a coming-of-age moment for British quantum computing,” adding that the capital would allow OQC to scale internationally, advance its technology roadmap and meet growing demand for secure, scalable quantum infrastructure.
The round has drawn support from senior figures across finance and government. Nigel Higgins, chair of Barclays and an OQC board member, said the company had “the technology, team and customer focus needed to build a leading global quantum platform.”
The Chancellor of the Exchequer, Rachel Reeves, cited the raise as evidence that the UK remained competitive in deep tech, and noted the government’s recent commitment of up to £2 billion to support UK quantum companies reaching commercial scale.
Per Roman, founder and managing partner of Bullhound Capital, said OQC was “positioned to shape” the transition of quantum computing into global infrastructure.
OQC said the funds will support expansion in priority markets and continued progress towards fault-tolerant quantum computing.
