First reported by Belga News Agency, the company unveiled plans to depend on voluntary departures and internal retraining for other positions within the company.
Meanwhile, some compulsory redundancies may occur, but these would account for only a small portion of the total job cuts.
However, around 800 employees are expected to retire in the coming years and will not be replaced and those in “non-crucial positions” will not be replaced, according to reports.

Proximus follows a raft of companies, including Salesforce, Telstra, Ericsson and Meta, which have all announced job cuts recently.
Just this week Optus unveiled plans to cut 200 jobs in a bid to recover from a Triple Zero outage linked to two deaths and $100 million fine for unfair sales practices.
A spokesperson for Optus said the company-wide restructure included new recruitment, leadership shifts and “role adjustments”.
“We are bringing in new expertise where needed, supporting transitions and simplifying areas of the business to drive faster, more effective decision-making,” the spokesperson said.
“We recognise some of the changes will have a significant impact on some of our people and we are committed to approaching this decision with empathy and respect.”
