How Supermicro is partnering with AMD to scale frontier AI

Supermicro launches a new server portfolio with AMD CPUs to meet growing AI compute demands and improve flexibility for businesses.

Supermicro has introduced a new H15 server portfolio with AMD CPUs to deliver stronger performance improvements.

The company said the portfolio will be powered by 6th Gen AMD EPYC 9006 Series CPUs, optimised for next-generation GPUs like AMD Instinct and connected by AMD Pensando networking.

H15 systems are designed to meet the growing compute demands of cloud, enterprise, storage, high-performance computing (HPC) and agentic AI workloads. The new portfolio comes during a time of high demand for hardware across the wider technology ecosystem, amid the AI boom and supply shortages.

Supermicro said the systems contain up to 256 cores and 512 threads, with breakthrough 1.7x generational CPU performance improvement, expanded memory and I/O bandwidth. It added that customers should now be able to run more concurrent AI agents, accelerate enterprise applications and maximise host-node performance while operating within existing power envelopes.

“The latest AMD-powered additions to our DCBBS family deliver the next generation of AI infrastructure, optimised for high performance, rapid scalability and peak efficiency,” said Vik Malyala, chief business officer at Supermicro. “Backed by our global services team, resilient US supply chain and consistent investment in US AI innovation, we continue to help customers deploy and scale AI with confidence.”

Eager to expand its AMD GPU-powered AI infrastructure, Supermicro said its H15 portfolio will complement new PCle GPU servers and the rack-scale Supermicro AMD Helios Platform. These solutions are expected to provide organisations with flexible deployment options ranging from enterprise AI inference to large-scale AI training.

For organisations wanting to deploy frontier AI models, Supermicro is also partnering with AMD to deliver the Supermicro AMD Helios Platform – a 72-GPU rack-scale solution designed for large-scale AI training and high-throughput inference.

Combining industry-leading design, liquid cooling, networking, software and global support services, Supermicro said it will continue to help customers accelerate AI adoption while reducing deployment time, improving energy efficiency and lowering total cost of ownership.
