As part of its strategy to build a more autonomous and secure network, the company has deployed Ciena’s WaveLogic 6 Extreme (WL6e) and Nokia’s Infinite Capacity Engine 7 (ICE7) to strengthen capacity and network resilience.
With the new technologies now fully commercialised across its global network, Telstra International is offering 400G services across diverse routes, with a roadmap to introduce 800G services in the near future, in a bid to support large-scale data centre interconnections and growing bandwidth needs.
According to Telstra International CEO, Roary Stasko, the company is “on track” to fully cloudify its subsea and backhaul network this year.
“We’ve made strong progress in cloudifying the transport infrastructure layer, allowing us to provision services rapidly and scale high bandwidth to demand- where and when our customers need it. Telstra International is among the industry leaders collaborating with both Ciena and Nokia to introduce the cloudification of digital infrastructure,” he added.
Meanwhile the company also revealed plans to enhance its autonomous network capabilities through predictive capacity management and service performance monitoring.
Roary continued: “These technologies will help us to execute our network transformation ambition under our Connected Future 30 strategy, which includes developing our Network as a Product and investing in infrastructure over the five-year strategic plan.
“We’re focused on elevating the customer experience by infusing AI into our network, with dynamic traffic management, incident avoidance and enhanced network security.”
