TIM said its board of directors have met regarding the situation and affirmed its full cooperation with authorities investigating one of the company’s executives, Simone De Rose, over allegations that he received illicit payments.

“The Board of Directors… guarantees absolute cooperation with the investigating authorities, also with the aim of reconstructing possible responsibilities to the detriment of the Group, which is to be considered an uninvolved and injured party in the affair,” TIM said in a statement.
Officers from the Italian Finance Police searched the office of De Rose as part of a wider corruption scandal currently unfolding being dubbed “the Sogei affair.”
The scandal involves Sogei, an IT company controlled by the country’s Ministry of Economy that is responsible for providing IT equipment for public agencies, with authorities investigating allegations of corruption and bid-rigging at the company.
The home of an individual working for NTT Data Italia was also searched by authorities.
TIM said it has launched its audits in light of the so-called Sogei affair, with De Rose suspended and replaced as group procurement and logistics officer with Giampaolo Leone, previously the company’s compliance department chief.
The Italian authorities’ investigation is still ongoing.
