Transatel taps Oracle to drive global 5G SA expansion

Transatel has deepened its push into next-generation IoT connectivity after selecting Oracle Communications’ cloud native 5G signaling core to power its global 5G Standalone (SA) services.

The NTT-owned provider, which already partners with more than 300 international mobile carriers, said the move will allow it to scale securely as demand surges across connected vehicle platforms, in-flight services and industrial automation.

The company said the shift to 5G SA is essential as roaming IoT devices place increasing pressure on legacy architectures. With fleets of connected cars transitioning to 5G and industrial systems requiring ultra-low latency and predictable performance, Transatel needed a platform designed for real-time, cross-border operations.

Oracle’s signaling core integrates directly with Transatel’s existing 3G and 4G systems, enabling a phased transition while delivering improved security, resilience and traffic control for global roaming.

“As IoT adoption accelerates across the automotive and industrial sectors, our customers expect secure, high-performant connectivity across the globe and beyond borders,” said Jacques Bonifay, CEO of Transatel. “After a review, it was clear Oracle was the right partner to power the next phase of our 5G connectivity.”

Oracle will provide key 5G SA components including its Service Communication Proxy (SCP), Security Edge Protection Proxy (SEPP) and Network Repository Function (NRF). Together, these are designed to strengthen signalling security, streamline routing, and support the high-throughput, low-latency requirements of next-generation applications.

Transatel said the new platform will allow it to scale to millions more devices, launch enhanced 5G SA roaming services, and manage both 4G and 5G operations through a fully cloud native, interoperable architecture, laying the groundwork for the next decade of connected services.
